It's one of these times that you blog about a new release of a great piece of software. This time, it's Drupal. Drupal 8.0.0 was released yesterday, after almost 5 years of development (Drupal 7.0 was released on Jan. 5th 2011) and it's a great release!

For one thing, Views is integrated into the core. To be honest, I haven't kept up with the latest development timeline regarding this new version, so I'm pretty sure I miss a lot.

It will be great to try out the new release. Drupal is one of the best (if not the best one) platforms to build a website.

So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead, download and install it!

Today is the day when both Drupal 7.0 and Linux 2.6.37 were released.

And as I would say in Greek: «Τυχαίο που βγήκαν και τα δύο μαζί; Δε νομίζω!!» 

On January 15th, the first alpha version of the upcoming Drupal 7 was released in the public. Drupal 7 has been in development for at least two years and brings many new features. In this post, I'm going to write my first impressions about this new release. Please note that the alpha1 version is not intended for production use, since it contains many bugs and has a lot of critical issues which must first come down to 0 before the final version is rolled out.

Gábor Hojtsy (one of the Drupal 6 committers and the person behind the localization server module for Drupal) has added today the Greek language in the official drupal.org l10n server, which is currently in beta testing.

Fellow Greek users, if you are interested in contributing with Greek translations, either for Drupal or for contributed modules, you are free to join at http://localize.drupal.org/translate/languages/el. Login with your drupal.org account, join the group and start translating!

Currently, all translations are added as suggestions, which are moderated by the group's moderators (which is currently me, but I am about to add at least one more person). If you already have a translation in gettext format (.po file), you can simply import it.

Let's hope once Drupal 7 hits the streets, Greek users will have the ability to work in their native language.

Το Drupal 6 ανακοινώθηκε κάποια στιγμή στις αρχές του έτους. Ο τρέχων ιστοτόπος είναι βασισμένος σε Drupal και μέχρι πρόσφατα (για την ακρίβεια μέχρι την τελευταία φορά που δεν υπήρχε αυτή η καταχώρηση...), ήταν βασισμένο στη σειρά 5.x. Ωστόσο...

Μου ανατέθηκε να στήσω ένα καινούριο ιστοτόπο (site ελληνιστί). Επειδή υπήρξε παλιότερα μια συζήτηση από τα εμπλεκόμενα άτομα, αποφασίστηκε να ακολουθηθεί η λύση του Joomla. Αυτό έγινε πριν 3,5 μήνες περίπου.
