The Chernobyl nuclear plant disaster, 24 years later

I've always found it kind of fascinating to read stories about the recent past. One of them was about the Chernobyl nuclear plant disaster in April 26th 1986, when one of the nuclear reactors exploded, leading to a huge catastrophe with the escaping radiation in the atmosphere. A few years ago, I found out a web page, where a young biker describes the place as seen from her own eyes. Of course, she shows extraordinary photographs of the site there. Now, the Linux-centric site Phoronix (nothing to do with the subject), describes the story again, from the eyes of its author(s). The photos are much better. The complete story is here.
